About Us

The Bannockburn and District Connected Communities is a voluntary group of residents who have joined forces to help provide improved community and sporting facilities for the region.

Bannockburn and District Connected Communities was formed in September 2007 and is registered under the Corporations Act as a Company Limited By Guarantee.

The group supports the communities of Bannockburn, Lethbridge, Meredith, Teesdale, Inverleigh, Shelford, Maude and Gheringhap.

Based on Bendigo Bank’s Community Bank concept, the Bannockburn and District Connected Communities group is run by a voluntary community-owned entity that invests back into the local community.

Supporters of the Bannockburn and District Connected Communities are Bendigo Bank customers who have linked their accounts. Funds may also come from the following:

  • Partnership with the Bendigo Bank
  • Partnership with Geelong Community Telco
  • Support from other local businesses
  • Direct donations

Grants are allocated by the Bannockburn and District Connected Communities Board four times a year – in March, May, August and November – with applications closing on the last day of the month preceding.

A percentage of our income is also being set aside for a yet-to-be-determined major project.

Since 2007 the Community Enterprise has allocated more than $215,000 to worthwhile community projects, and met a range of local community needs including:

  • Youth projects
  • Cultural activities
  • Family facilities
  • Senior citizens
  • Sporting projects

In a recent round of grants, Bannockburn Primary School was allocated funds for the departing Grade 6's to build a sound Legacy Garden for Bannockburn children to enjoy for many years to come.

Six voluntary fire brigades in the district have also been able to improve their security thanks to a grant from the Community Enterprise.

The best way you can help is to sign a support form that links your account/s to the Community Enterprise. The more money we earn from the bank, the more we can allocate to community projects.

For more information about becoming a supporter or applying for a grant, talk to the staff at the Bannockburn branch of the Bendigo Bank or contact a board member: Shaun Ridgeway, Brett Cunningham, Kath Boland, Liz McDonald, Doug Gadd, Bill Hughes, David Cotsell, John O'Shannassy or Kylie Warne.
